School corporations are required to hold an educational program for students about the United States Constitution on Constitution Day and Citizenship Day on September 17. This requirement was established by Congress in 2004 and applies to all educational institutions that receive federal funding.

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787, and provides an opportunity to engage students in learning about the principles, rights, and responsibilities that form the foundation of our government.

The U.S. Department of Education offers a variety of resources to assist schools in planning Constitution Day activities and instruction. Those resources are available at: https://www.ed.gov/teaching-and-administration/teaching-resources/instructional-resources/constitution-day-and-citizenship-day

Thank you for providing students with meaningful opportunities to learn about our constitutional system of government and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
